Pre-Auction Host Checklist
A smooth auction is created before the first player appears. Hosts who prepare room settings, communication rules, and fallback actions reduce conflict and keep all teams engaged.
Phase 1: Room Configuration
- Set purse based on participant skill level
- Define max and min squad size clearly
- Choose timer duration that matches room speed
- Enable passcode for private groups
- Choose player order mode before invites are sent
Phase 2: Invite and Brief
Share room code and passcode in one message to reduce join failures. Add a short rule note so all teams understand expectations before start.
Recommended pre-auction brief: timer length, tie behavior, mute policy for voice chat, and fair-play expectations.
Phase 3: Pre-Start Validation
- Confirm every participant has selected a unique team
- Check that name labels are readable and non-abusive
- Verify everyone can see current room settings
- Do one final passcode reminder before start
Phase 4: Live Auction Control
During auction, the host role is to protect pace and fairness. Keep guidance neutral. Do not pressure specific bids. Focus on continuity and clear status updates.
- Announce pause/restart actions transparently
- Handle connection issues with a consistent rule
- Avoid changing major settings mid-flow unless agreed
Phase 5: Post-Auction Wrap
- Review final squads and remaining purse summary
- Collect short feedback from participants
- Document settings used so next room starts faster
Host Quality Standard
A good host keeps the room understandable. Even when bids become chaotic, participants should always know rules, timing, and what happens next.
